Overall Rank = 88/294
Age Group = F 35-39
Age Group Rank = 1/23
Pre-race routine:

Made tuna noodle casserole in a plug in skillet in the motel room the day before. Yumm!!!
Event warmup:

Not much.
Swim
  • 19m 51s
  • 1300 yards
  • 01m 32s / 100 yards
Comments:

The pace looks fast but it was downstream in a river. I felt pretty relaxed and just took it easy. My time this year is the same as the past few years.
Transition 1
  • 02m 26s
Comments:

Not a bad transition. I set up my bike in the same area as two years ago when I did good at this race. My T1 was about 1 minute faster this year!
Bike
  • 39m 20s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 19.07 mile/hr
Comments:

I averaged 14.7 mph at the turn around. I think this is slower than in years past. I was having a good time passing the ladies in my age group. Over the last few miles of the ride, I was passing people in other age groups. I didn't see anymore in mine. This made me a little worried. Little did I know that I had passed them all!!!

My bike leg was 3 seconds faster than two years ago. I'd call my performance consistent.
Transition 2
  • 01m 5s
Comments:

I had to throw someones wetsuit off of the bike rack where my transition area was set up. Grrrrr!!!! He had a perfectly good towel to set his wetsuit on!!! My T2 ended up being a little slower than 2 years ago.
Run
  • 26m 6s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

My legs just didn't want to go! To add to the difficulty, I had to weave my way around the 5K runners who started their race as I was racking my bike. Grrrrr!!! Then a 5K runner side-stepped to avoid someone squirting water and ran into me!!! Grrrrr!!!! THEN, I had to WALK behind some 5K runners who wouldn't get out of my way!!!! GRRRRRR!!!! My run time would have been better.
Post race
Warm down:

Wandered around and drank some beer. I also picked up my super cool age group first place medal!

Event comments:

Fun race. This is the fifth time I've done this race. It's a tradition.

Nice race!  First in AG is fantastic!  I would probably ask the RD who would start a 5k at the same time as the tri people were coming in off the bikes...  that is stoopid...  They could have set them off right after the swim and they would have all been out of the way by the time the triathletes got back!  It probably sounded like a good idea in theory...

Congrats on the AG win!!  The run sounded very frustrating but you managed to keep it together ... and the beer is the reward! :D
