I've tried several (zoot, desoto, pi) but the best I've tried so far is Kiwami.  Different brands might fit people differently, but theirs is the most comfortable for me.

what would you consider as TOP brands...

do majority of brands like desoto, tyr, orca actually sponsor the athletes....?

for example:  tyr = chrissie, k-swiss = lieto

does orca for example sponsor a big athlete?

Hydro - 2010-07-22 2:15 PM De Soto

+1.  I've used Zoot, 2XU, TYR and a few others.  They're o.k. but DeSoto is the best I've worn and it's what I'm always in at my "A" races.

why do you say desoto?  if i may?

i am doing a deep dive if you will for work.  personally i have tried zoot, 2xu, lg and find zoot and lg some of the best.

would you ever consider a lower branded product?  (without a big name backing it?)

Well, tri clothes are a bit like nutrition or bike fit I guess - not everybody likes the same thing.  But I find DeSoto to be the most comfortable of all of the tri-clothes I've worn.

I'm willing to try others, but I always have DeSoto in my closet and on race day it's pretty much always DeSoto for me.

I used to wear TYR (nice suit, a little easier on the budget..sometimes, and a big sponsor of Triathlon events). I also like 2XU. I have a wetsuit that I really like, so I bought the new trisuit this year by them. They have some cool technology/features to their stuff and it is well thought out. So far so good. First race with it this weekend, but pool swims and runs have felt good.

FWIW: I don't think trisuits are all that different..to me anywway. Its not like a wetsuit, which can be a very personal thing. So I dont think you can go too wrong. Set a budget. look around within that budget, and you should be fine.

I've tried Zoot, Blue Seventy,  Louis Garneau, Tyr, and several others. The only ones I liked fit-wise were Sugoi.

Not everyone looks good in a sleeveless. If you have broad shoulders and a big chest (for guys), many sleeveless suits cut in cut in too much around the arms. It's not flattering. I found the Sugoi's were the most comfortable (and yes, flattering). I find the same with their bicycle gear.

Too bad they're so expensive.

Not sure if you got an answer to this, but Orca sponsors Craig Alexander.

SLS is good too. That is my current suit. The shorts are amazing. I have had a Sugoi too and could go either way between the two.

All my favorite gear is X2U.  It's more comfy and fits better than the other brands.  My boyfriend feels the same way.

this is pretty good.  reason i ask is i work for a company that wants a little presentation.

problem is EVERYONE is so particular look at the responses here.  and i fully understand it from my experience as well, i love zoot and LG and those are the 2 that i will always try first.  it just seems like not really 1 company has made 1 suit that is so AMAZING that everyone knows about it or wants it.

i guess i will have to show several examples and provide some analysis of these suits.  oh boy...what a fun project.

it would be great to find out who the leader is be it 1 pc suit vs 2 pc suit....

Kiwami, Great suit, fantastic customer service, sponsors Matty reed and others including some high performance youth teams. There are a couple companies where, if you search on their name on the two major tri forums (BT and ST), you will find almost 100 % positive feedback. Kiwami is one of them, they hapen to sponsor my son's team so I won't be mentioning the other companies. Andre Bennaton is the USA rep for Kiwami and is one of the most responsive guys I've met in a long time. Ideally you would never need to worry about customer service but... if you do or if you have questions, etc; it is nice when the company actually listens to your questions and responds (in less than an hour). They have a pretty varied product line so you can find something that suits you and the racing you want to do.

I just emailed Desoto because I'm kinda between sizes and needed some advice. They got back to me within an hour and told me what to order. They assured me I'd be happy. I ordered the liftfoil tri-suit. If this goes well I'm going to order some shorts and maybe some jearsey's as well.

As someone who sponsors a few teams, I will tell you that the above response is common. Some like one brand and others can't wear it. The one common brand that I've encountered that no one complains about (keep in mind these are team outfits, so it's companies that do custom sublimation of logos, etc on their product) is sugoi. Don't know if that helps or not.

My personal favorites are Garneau, 2XU and Sugoi. I had a Zoot that fit well, but bled rather badly, although they did replace it immediately.

Desoto has awesome customer service, (And Emilio posts regularly in...another place), and I've heard good things about Kiwami, just don't have the scratch to buy one just to try.

well i actually visited a couple of stores today with some co-workers to give them an idea on the business model and showed them suits by zoot, desoto, orca, sugoi.

they were really confused how to approach it.  were quite sure on the price point either.
