Today I bought a non tri friendly car 2010 Charger now I need a way to haul the bike I have priced a hitch that will fit under the car and not be seen, or I could get a bike carrier for the trunk.  What have you used and what would you recommend? I do not want to mess up the finish of my new car.

I drive a Camaro, but not a 2010, so I'm not so concerned with the finish on it.  Saris Bones rack is the only rack that I can personally recommend.  It has plastic feet, so it shouldn't do too much damage to your paint.

I also considered getting a hitch for a bike rack, but I'm happy with my decision to go with Saris.  Carrying a bike definitely takes the fun out of driving a sports car though!  My car handles differently on the highway when I'm carrying the bike, but I just slow down a little bit.  I'm not sure if a hitch rack would be more stable.

The only disadvantage is that the straps holding the rack to the car can loosen on long transports.  I tighten them every 45-60 mins of drive time.

Congrats on the car!

I have the Hollywood Bike rack that holds 3 bikes on the back of my blazer. This is the one without the hitch so it comes on and off in about 15 minutes when I want to remove it (on a slow day).

Have you considered getting something for the roof?  Having recently invested a small fortune in Thule components for both kayaks and bikes (518 Echelon) I can say that their stuff is certainly solid and thus far none have done any damage to my finish.

I have a factory roof rack but I'm guessing you'll need to purchase one of their base systems. Frankly, I think you are better off - with all the shamefully expensive adapters I've had to purchase having the factory rack didn't prove to be much of a boon.  In fact, because the bike racks need a unique adapter, I can't mount the kayak and bike racks simultaneously.

We purchase a rack ourself like 2 weeks ago. It goes in the hitch. It's the Thule Double Track for 378.00$ at 15%. We love it. The only thing it only has 2 places for the bike. It's the type that has cups for holding you tires and there is a bar in the middle you slide down in the middle to hold the bikes. We love it. Once you are done at a Triathlon less the 4 min. we have the 2 bikes attach in the rack and it locks itself. I would really recommend having a look at it bebore you buy one.  Thule Double Track.

I have the saris bones and use it for racing.  I realized that I often do things before and after I ride, so I have to store my bike in my trunk with the wheels off to prevent theft.

I agree with the Bones, though get the 3 bike setup instead of the 2 bike as there are an extra set of straps which secure the rack much better to the trunk.  I have also had 2 thule trunk mounts and the Bones design is far superior
