Hadn't raced in a while, so I thought I'd check this one out. Anyone else in?

I was contemplating it, but it's so far away...

I'll be curious to hear if anyone is madly in love with the race and recommends it.

Edit:  I was thinking about the 1/3 iron

I'm doing the 1/3 again this year.  It's a fast and flat bike course and the run is around the lake.  Super venue and nice people.

Emily, sign up!!!  It's a great course and you'll have a super time.  And don't whine about it being far away.

Did the sprint last year, its a good race, 180 degree turnaround on the bike was interesting because of some loose gravel.  Run was good.

The main complaint I heard last year was lack of volunteers or accurate directions as a few people were sent on the short course who were supposed to do the long course.  That being said, they could have paid more attention during the race briefing to avoid that.

Going to be doing an out of town race, but its a good venue to check out.

Okay, I decided to go for it when I saw a brick on my schedule for the weekend.  What the heck, right?

See you there, Pattie!  I am going to try for an Athena podium spot...  Shouldn't be hard, since there were only 2 contenders last year

Have fun guys.  I'm heading to Iowa to ride some of the Ragbrai course and then to Omaha for a short trip to the Zoo.

Sprint is an out and back, eh?  Being in the first wave will make it fun to see all the youngsters in hot pursuit.

Forecast is sunny and 83.   This will actually be my first tri of the season with "nice" summer weather.  All the others have been "nice for Emily" weather of cooler/cloudy/raining.  Sigh.

I, too, prefer "nice for Emily" weather. But 83 is still good...

Steve, wow! You don't have to worry about people seeing you, unless maybe they are blinded by the colors!

Good luck tomorrow, everyone!  Be sure to bring your sunglasses so that Steve's shorts don't blind you. Cool

Stop by the Tri Rochester tent and say hi!  Hopefully I'll be done before you've all packed up and gone home.

Okay, that kind of sucked.  But I really enjoyed seeing y'all!

So, I am looking at the results and something is funny...  There are several folks who did the run in under an hour (like the top guys who did it in 55 mins, etc - totally believe that) and yet there are 3 others who did it in 31 mins, 13 mins, 49 mins... These same people did their swim and bikes in a BOP sort of time.    I wonder if they quit, yet the timing got screwed up.   I fully admit - I wanted to quit!

Chad, if you're out there, thanks again for motivating me!

It was good to see/meet you all as well.

Emily, I think i know what happened with at least one long course person.  While standing in line for lunch, a guy came through the chute and he yelled "where do i go? I'm not done!!".  Apparently he took a left to the finish rather than taking another lap of the lake.  I believe his timing chip would have had him finish once he crossed the mat.  Perhaps Bill could confirm how the timing works.

My first loop of the run was hot, I'd imagine you roasted on the 2nd.

Where did you find the results, online race results?  Is there a text only version of them out there somewhere?

Yeah, it was close.  I didn't realize I was in 1st when a guy in my AG went by me with .5 to go.  I figured - awe crap, now i have to keep up with him.  I mustered a bit of energy and passed him with .25 to go figuring I'd try to move up a spot, but in doing so I nabbed the win.

Fun stuff!

CONGRATS - that rocks!!!

Good job to all who finished - it sounds like it was brutal out there.

Cheers, Chris
