Subaru Triathlon Series
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 31m 21s
Overall Rank = 9/113
Age Group = 20-29
Age Group Rank = 1/7
Pre-race routine:

Same as always, get there as soon as I can, drink lots and stand in line for the washroom.
Event warmup:

I ended up running most of the run course and then some light stretching.
Run
  • 07m 19s
  • 2 kms
  • 03m 40s  min/km
Comments:

I always tell myself to take it easy on the first run and save some for the bike. But just like the last 2 races the heat of the moment got to me and I went all out. The whole time I'm thinking go hard or go home.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, what ever I'm doing seems to be working.
Transition 1
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

I put my bike shoes on first then run to the line and mount. This time I had a hard time getting my shoes done up right because my hands were shaking after that run.
What would you do differently?:

I need triathlon shoes.
Bike
  • 51m 54s
  • 30 kms
  • 34.68 km/hr
Comments:

I got some clip on areo bars and they seem to help on the flats. But it's not easy getting a comfortable position with them on a road bike.
I also found myself going "one on one" with a few of the athletes that pulled away from me at Guelph Lake 1. Maybe it was the aero bars or maybe it was me but I had my legs.
What would you do differently?:

Get a triathlon bike
Transition 2
  • 00m 39s
Comments:

Good transition
Run
  • 30m 31s
  • 7 kms
  • 04m 22s  min/km
Comments:

It seems to take me a few kilometers to get going. In this case it wasn't until km number 4 or 5 until I felt good.
What would you do differently?:

The final run seems to be my week spot. I guess I just need to run more.
Post race
Warm down:

Find out my place and lay down under a tree.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My final run and I had some minor cramping in my calves during the bike.

Event comments:

I won my age group,,, YES. I wanted an overall time of 1hr 30mins and just mist out by over a minute

I can't wait for Grimsby and "The Beast" or whatever they call that hill.
