How much did they pay you to wear their corporate logo for life? I have heard of people being paid to get temp. tat's on their head by corporate sponsors. I'm guessing a perm tat on a leg should get you a nice paycheck. Unnecessary. Really. Please don't be so negative. to the OP: very cool and congrats to your dad !! x2! Congrats on your achievement! There is a world full of negative people and world full of positive people. Try to ignore the negatives, they only bring everyone down around them, themselves included. How cool to do an IM with your DAD!!! Too awesome! |

Can't wait for the IOC to charge a licensing fee to every tri that states "Olympic" distance, which AFAIK they have legal basis to do. |

LOL, for the rest of his life people who knew what a 140.6 was would ask, "dude, did you collapse with only .3 left to go? That sucks!... you should have just gone to a brothel." |

Wow, that statement sent me to the USPTO website to see -- WTC did, in fact, attempt to register 140.6, but it abandoned the registrations (probably in the face of rejection for descriptiveness, but I didn't have time to dig that far). THere is, however, some outfit in Colorado trying to get registrations for it now. Good luck with that. |

All I did was ask if he got paid. I don't personally get the went to the place where boys become men, and could have easily made lots of comments about that but didn't. It is increadible how the "negative" police jumped on this thread and turned into some kind of defense of choice, when no one made a negative or hatefull statement about Tattoo's or even his choice of a Tattoo. And just so you folks have a clue what I am talking about check this out. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,600145187,00.html This lady sold her forehead for $10,000. Golden Palace has paid several people for Tattoo space. I was just wondering if he had sold his calf space.... Yes. You did. Your reply clearly indicates your distaste for the mDot logo as a tat ---- a subject that's been hashed and rehashed several times on here. Do you really think anyone here understood your question as a simple/ curious "did he get paid" question? Were you really asking if the Ironman brand paid him for it? Do you really think anyone here understood your question as a simple/ curious "did he get paid" question? Were you really asking if the Ironman brand paid him for it? NO I didn't as a matter of fact, I think the art on the OP's arm from what I can see looks very impressive. I have nothing against Tattoo's or folks who get them. Being a walking billboard for a company for the rest of your life, does seem odd to me and I wondered if he got paid. It's his body he can do what he wants. But I think I can ask questions without being Attacked. Personally, if I were to get a tat, for an accomplishment of say completeting and IM I think the tat would say that. There are folks who have not finished, and some who have probably not even done an IM wearing that tat. (Yes check the boards folks have come on asking how long before their race should they get an Mdot tat so it will be healed for the race) Why not get one that says Ironman Finisher with cool graphics? Heck most avg. joes probably don't even know what Mdot. is but most know what an Ironman race is. |

USOC has all rights to the word "Olympic", and according to Intl Trademark Association may file suit against anyone using the word in connection with any athletic performance. http://www.inta.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=187&Itemid=59&getcontent=1 And the IOC's aggressive trademark stance even extends to media coverage: http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news/story.html?id=657daec0-134e-4edf-90c3-ac57565c478b BTW- my bad on the 140.6 typo And I had no idea 140.6 was also apparently trademarked. Maybe I should trademark 140+0.6 |
