I wrecked my bike about a month ago and broke one of my ribs. Unbelievable pain. I'm starting to feel a little better, but every time a start to do even the simplest workout i end up hurting myself again. Has anyone been through this? What did you do and how long did it take?

I've had compression fractures twice and both times recovery took about 7 weeks to feel relatively normal. The pain level seemed to be the same until about 5 or 6 weeks and then started to reduce dramatically.
Sure hope you don't have a cold. Coughing and sneezing are torture in this state!
I broke a rib last year on the MTB. I took a few weeks off and then for the next 5-6 weeks I only road the road bike. I seemed to be ok unless I got my HR over 150. After that I started breathing to deep and it hurt.
I broke 3 when I fell off my bike. Pain was pretty unbelievable when I tried to start training again too early. Breathing hard caused the pain from the rib cage expanding. Honestly, the best advice I can give you is to rest and take it easy. If you push too fast, they can take longer to heal from the jostling (which is what happened to me).
I broke 2-ribs and my clavicle back in 2007. I didn't know of the 2 broken ribs until almost a month after my bike crash when I had an MRI for some other issues. Funny, I knew I was in a lot of pain but I just figured it was from the broken clavicle. Anyway, it hurts and I think I slept on the recliner for almost a month. Strated stationary biking and running maybe at about 6-weeks. But there were some other issues. I think if were just the ribs I would have been running at around 4-weeks.
