Total Time = 1h 37m 16s
Overall Rank = 140/249
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 12/22
Pre-race routine:

I woke up, shaved, dressed, stopped by Biscuitville, grabbed a biscuit (couldn't eat all of it because of my nerves), and headed to the race site. Got to the site, prepped the bike and then my transition area.
Event warmup:

Hopped in the water about 45 minutes before race time. It was VERY warm!
Swim
  • 19m 50s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 25s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

I am definitely a product of my training. My performance was a direct reflection up my inconsistency in training. I'm a much better swimmer than my performance showed. With things at work slowing down and school about to start back up in a couple of weeks, I'm going to start getting back into the flow of my more consistent workouts again. Looking forward to it!
Transition 1
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

This was slightly uphill but wasn't that bad. I didn't run out of transition as hard as I could/should have but I was happy with T1 overall.
Bike
  • 46m 1s
  • 15 miles
  • 19.56 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

I'm getting in decent mileage on my bike but more mileage is definitely in my future. With my still being a noticeable beginner, I think that with more mileage under my belt I will continue to improve my cycling skills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 27s
Comments:

T2 went pretty smoothly. With about 500m left I started to coast and take my feet out of my shoes. I pedaled up a little speed after I got each shoe off and then coasted from about 75m out to the line and hopped off. It went pretty smoothly but I'm going to have to practice running with the shoes still cleated in.
What would you do differently?:

I have to remember to make sure that the crank arms are level with the ground before dismounting so I don't cause my bike to jump over my shoe.
Run
  • 28m 36s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

This would have been a great course had it not been for the smothering heat in the woods. Yes, the tree cover was a great break from the heat but the lack of air flow throw the woods was horrible. Not to mention, they gave everyone a special little treat at the turn coming out of the woods -- a steep, short climb with a VERY sharp turn in the middle of it!
What would you do differently?:

Put in more mileage before the race.

Course: I really liked this course. It had a few decent rollers and a couple of hills but all in all it was a very fast course. The course kept me stimulated both visually and physically. I was always around people so this made the whole experience seem to go by much faster than what it actually did.

Good job. I know that feeling of trying to run in that heat. It looks like you had good focus and executed a good race plan given what the weather threw at you.

Nice RR. I hear ya on the heat/hill comments. It was miserable in the woods :-)
