Swim
Comments: I felt good the entire swim. we had a pretty small wave and those girls were FAST! A lot of them took off, so I had a lot of room to swim. At one point, three ladies came up from behind and surrounded me...making me a little uncomfortable. So, I slowed for just a second and let them pass...them moved to the outside. I pushed it hard for the last 100+ meters and ran all of the way to T1. I felt pretty good coming out of the water. What would you do differently?: I need to push harder the entire swim. I can go faster if I tried harder. I am just worried that I'll wear myself out...so I hold back. I need to do more speed work in the pool so I'm comfortable again with going all out and I'll know how hard and how long I can push it. Transition 1
Comments: I ran the entire way from the water to transition, where I found Mike! I gave him a quick smack on the butt before he went out on his ride. I moved pretty quick, and opted to put on socks since it was a longer ride and longer run. But then I had trouble getting my spare tub into my shirt pocket. After messing with it for about 20 secondes, I gave up and went on my way. What would you do differently?: I have a bag under my seat now with a a full flat repair kit. Otherwise, just hustle a little more. Bike
Comments: The ride felt good. Looking at my average speed now, I thought I was moving faster...but I worked hard and kept in aero the entire time. It began to rain a little towards the end. Oh yeah, and I got stopped right out of trainsition by a big Semi-Truck...so any lead I had on the women behind me was killed by having to sit there for 30 seconds before the truck moved. (The volunteer apologized...and I said "no big deal, I'm not winning this race!") What would you do differently?: More time in the saddle...just need more training to get faster. Transition 2
Comments: I'm not sure how it took me THAT long...but I know I wasn't moving very fast. I can't recall what held me up. I don't have quick laces for my new running shoes, so I had to tie them. I put my hair into a better pony tail. That's about it...not sure why it took so darn long. What would you do differently?: Hustle. Run
Comments: Blah...hated every second of this. Long, straight and boring. And I was beat. I walked more than I ran, I think. What would you do differently?: Training...I haven't been running hardly at all lately. I need to focus. Post race
Warm down: Stretched, had some food, chatted with the other BTer's. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training...specifically running. And more time in the saddle will help to increase my speed. Event comments: This was a good little race for a good cause. I enjoyed it. The timing/results were wrong. But, oh well. It was my first Olympic distance race and it feels pretty good to have that under my belt. Thanks to Smoak for running me in that last mile. Last updated: 2010-05-21 12:00 AM

Mike and I were up and out the door a little later than expected, but we still made it to the race site with time to spare. We stopped on the way for a coffee and a bagel. Once at the site, we got our race packets, put our bikes in transition (next to each other) and then put up the BT tent by the finish line.
Stretched, dipped in the water just before the start
