Pre-race routine:

Worked all day. Had PB&J around 2:00. Ate a Cliff Bar on way to the race.

Got registered and then went to look for my wife who was bringing my bike since we had toswitch cars today and she had the van.

Too late to get a rack spot so I find a nice piece of ground and set up transition.
Event warmup:

Did some stretching and went for a swim to check the water temp.
Swim
  • 09m 7s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

Went without the wetsuit for this swim just to see how it would go. Felt comfortable but definately felt I was doing more work. Got out of the water in a little over 8 minutes.
Overall my time was 7 seconds faster than last week so I made up time in transition (T1 time is included in swim time) but lost time on the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I went without the wetsuit as I have a race coming up that may be too warm for the suit so I wanted to get in a practice swim without it.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

No problems in T1 since I didn't have to worry about the suit. But since the bike was laying on the ground and not racked I almost forgot my helmet since it wasn't resting on the bars. Lost a little time there but nothing major.
What would you do differently?:

Try to get there early enough to get a spot on the rack.
Bike
  • 37m 21s
  • 12 miles
  • 19.28 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt good on the bike but still having trouble holding speed on the hills. Probably didn't drink enough either.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

No problems in transition
Run
  • 26m 8s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Cramped up in the beginning of the run probably from not drinking enough. Didn't have a problem last week but it was much hotter for this race.
Once I got through the cramps and over the first uphill section I was able to get into my stride and had a decent run.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more.
Post race
Warm down:

Talked with a friend who was there doing his first tri. Packed up and went home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need to drink more on the bike.
I finished 7 seconds faster than last time so I guess you could call that an improvement but I thought I was going faster.

Event comments:

Great series.

Great Job...an improvement...but no wetsuit...might of sapped some energy plus being hotter. I wish i could have made it up...it is a fun race and everyone is super nice.

You are smoking on the bike!!
