Subject: End of Season-Winter Training- 2011 Season
Hello

I wanted to get you all thoughts on this.

My 2010 Season has been kind of strange for my second season.  Knee surgery & recovery Jan-Feb-March-April,  1 bike charity bike ride, 2 Sprint Triathlons with struggling runs and in mid-June I did charity beach run 5K with my left heel developing planter fascitis.  So no running since  the beach run but I have continued riding and swimming.

Now I want to finish the season with one more race.  My thinking is stay away from the running and continue to let my left heel recover, work this winter on a good run building program and start looking toward my 2011 season with my eye a 1/2 IM race here in my home town in May.

So  Myrtle Beach is hosting the Half Max Championships (1/2 IM, Oly & Sprint) on 2 Oct &  Myrtle Beach is about an hour half hour drive from Charleston. I think having a chance to race with National championship triathlete's will be pretty exciting.

So I have been thinking about trying to start running again and maybe do the Sprint Race or do  the 1/2 Aqua-Bike and focus the winter working on my running.   I am kind of leaning toward the AquaBike since I know I can do the swim and bike now. Plus with 9 weeks for good training I can have a good race.

I know this is rambling and disjointed.

I would go with the Aquabike.  No sense in taking a chance with your foot.

i agree. do the 1/2 aquabike or maybe do a relay of any of the three distances and only do the swim/ bike portions.

avoid additional injury to the foot and build back slowly. the season is coming to a close why hurt yourself further.

I agree that you should do the aquabike.  give your foot time to heal and when you start running again take it nice and slow.  Consider doing a learn to run kind of program just to control your build and make sure you don't get any overuse injuries.
