Total Time = 1h 46m 44s
Overall Rank = 358/365
Age Group = Clydes 200+ 40+
Age Group Rank = 7/7
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 5:00 AM - Ate 2 Bean, Egg, Bacon Burritos. Sipped 32 Oz water bottle. Drove to beach, dropped off wife and daughter, then drove to park.
Event warmup:

Walked bike .5 miles to transition to set up. Did some stretching, shoulder hurt just stretching.
Swim
  • 16m 43s
  • 440 yards
  • 03m 48s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swam lots extra, had trouble sighting. Swam in and out of buoys. Rounded last buoy and thought heading to shore, but headed at 45 farther off course. Over compensated and swam almost back to buoy.
What would you do differently?:

Use smaller goggles.
Transition 1
  • 03m 20s
Comments:

Seemed slow, but run on beach, up stairs, about 1/4 mile distance.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 41m 33s
  • 10 miles
  • 14.44 mile/hr
Comments:

Computer not working, so going by feel. Lost front brakes.

Someone opened their car door and almost hit me. Too many people parked on side of the road on the course, so bikes were on one side of cars and runners crammed on other side.
What would you do differently?:

Practice some before racing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 27s
Comments:

Racked on wrong rack, then noticed my stuff behind me on next rack. Slowed me down some. Had bandanna in ice water, stuck together. Ripped race number putting on running belt. Wrapped around.
What would you do differently?:

Find right rack, count them during setup.
Run
  • 43m 42s
  • 3 miles
  • 14m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran to cone, then walked a cone or so, repeat....

Water on course was warm. could not drink it. Finished strong at least.
What would you do differently?:

run more in training
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and ate lots.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

PT on shoulders and resting to help cure them. No practice rides for 2 months and limited running due to travel for 2 months.

Event comments:

tons of food and drink after race. Nice Goodies in bag. Run course totally lined with cones.
