Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:30, had a pb sandwich and some coffee and headed to the race. We were staying about 30 minutes away.
Event warmup:

No warmup, got in the water and swam just a bit. It was actually a little chilly so when my wave could get in the water I just stayed there.
Swim
  • 29m 34s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 48s / 100 yards
Comments:

I thought I had a good swim, sighted perfect, drafted a little on the first two legs. The last leg was tiring, I felt like I was not moving.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster, It was a slow swim for me.
Transition 1
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

Good T1, 1st in AG on that:)
Bike
  • 1h 20m 55s
  • 28 miles
  • 20.76 mile/hr
Comments:

I wanted to average over 20 on the bike, so at least I hit that goal. I was trying to catch a friend of mine who beat me by 7 minutes on the swim, so I had a lot of ground to catch up!
What would you do differently?:

Not much, good bike for me.
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

Good T2,2nd in AG
Run
  • 48m 9s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 07m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Started out a little slow on the run, had a little ankle pain for some reason. Felt good after about 1/2 mile and tried to run down my friend. Another mile and I would have had him:)
What would you do differently?:

Great run for me, felt great.
Post race
Warm down:

Cheered on some other folks that were there from Wilmington, then ran a couple of miles. Jumped in the lake to cool off.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Crappy swim, ??

Event comments:

Loved the venue, stayed up there for the weekend. Beautiful area and a great course.
