ok so ive finally had a proper fit on the bike and lots of things have been adjusted. im pretty sure i have all the gear i need to head out.

I have an experienced cyclist who is taking me out for a ride tomorrow, never ridden on the road just on the trainer.

Any last minute tips?

Be careful, stay close-ish to the shoulder, use your peripherals, and have fun!!

you probably have one, but if you don't, get a helmet
I still see some folks out there with their fashionable yellow Campy caps from the 80's, bad choice

have fun and ride where you are comfortable, your confidence will build with time and experience

Went out and absolutely loved it

We rode for 22kilometres and felt great. Had to stop and unclip a fair few times which was good practice, unclipping was ok getting my foot back in was tricky.

But yeah i really enjoyed it, wore 2 pairs of knicks so my butt didnt hurt too much shoulders are a bit sore but overall a good start!

not liking the aerobars much though

Glad to hear all went well.  In time you will adjust to the aero bars.

glad to see you went straight to clipless pedals, wise choice, as it will help your efficiency greatly in the long run.  as for seat comfort, I'd advise getting bike shorts with a padded crotch area, as you'll be uncomfortable with two layers in longer distances, if still uncomfortable, get fitted for a seat at your LBS

it only gets better from here, ride on....

it will take a few weeks to get over the pain in the butt-
then you can really start to train.

Yeah i wore shorts with a padded crotch then long tights with a padded crotch lol worked well!

Going out for a longer ride this thursday so am hoping to try the aero bars out a little more, finding it hard to get my balance on them!
