Subject: RE: Keystone State Triathlon : Official Thread newbz - 2010-08-27 11:22 AM dooooo it for those that have done it before, whats the course like? overall competition? Even though I live so close (less than a 15 min drive from home ), I've never done this race, but I've ridden the bike course more times than I can count. The roads are smooth, and there are really only 2 significant hills. The first is not too far out of transition, and it comes right after you turn off of Alpine road, so it hits you with no warning. You want to make sure you're in a low gear before you make the turn. The second hill is shortly after you make the right at the light in Rossville. You'll go about 1/4-1/2 mile and cross over a bridge at the upper end of the lake just as the climb starts. Most people think the Camp Area Road hill is harder, but this is the one that kicks my butt for some reason. I haven't done the run course, because if I run at the park, it's usually on the other side of the lake from transition. The only bad part about the swim is the water quality. It is truly nasty. The visibility is zero. You can't see your hand when your arm is stretched out in front of you swimming. Looking at last year's results, this has either been a small event in the past, or they don't post all the results online. Looking at podium times in my AG, I would normally have a serious shot at my first podium, but with larger training volume right now and all the fatigue that comes with it, I have no idea what kind of performance I'll be able to put up. With your speed, you may have a chance for an overall win. |
