I'm in, too....as long as my first 70.3 this fall goes ok!  I imagine there should be some fun climbs once they finalize the course.

Interesting....  I'll have to wait to see how IMOO goes before I commit to another long course race.

I grew up about 20 minutes from the proposed swim start and my parents still live there.  i'm in if it's true.

I'm thinking about doing Savageman.  I'd need to decide if it's enough time for me between the 2 races.

It's a WTC event.  It's not going to be pricey...it's going to rape our wallets.  Money mouth

Looks interesting. It's a bit odd though, that CGI had to scrub their 70.3 distance at Black Bear and now WTC has an event a few miles east of there. Not that I am a conspiracy theorist or anything.
Interesting too that Philadelphia Triathlon is involved. Between them and WTC it will be very pricey.

figure minimum $275/300.  I'm trying to do the same amount of races at half the budget next year.  Finding a ton that are much cheaper then the big names (WTC, CTA, Philly).

I've been searching for a 70.3 to complete next year.  This would be nice in terms of closeness and to stay at for a couple days with my wife.  But the time of year is bad for me.  I was hoping for end of August, early September.  Once the school year starts up, training time diminishes to tiny bits and pieces here and there...

In terms of your criteria above, the Quakerman Half is a nice race, usually the weekend after Labor Day in Nockamixon State Park. From Fleetwood it's probably not a stay-over.

As for the Pocono race, my training tends to get better once the school year starts, because swimming is no longer about cannonballs and waterslides with the kids, so an October race may be just the ticket for me. Although the price tag of an M-dot/Philly Tri-run race would make me keep my running shoes a little longer, or cause on of my kids ot go barefoot.

This is real interesting for me.  I do well on hilly bike courses and a BIG inaugural triathlon is something I’ve always wanted to try.

I bet it will be wet suit legal, could even be snow I guess.

Does anyone have any idea of the bike course?

This seems like its made up to me.  An ironman event in the poconos?  Quite a random place to host a huge event.  Plus, ocotober in the "mountains" of PA???  That could be disasterous.  Aren't the only late season ironman events in super hot places like Hawaii, Arizona, and Florida?  It doesn't look like everything is official yet, but I would be very surprised if there was an official half ironman in the poconos in october.

...but if it is true id prolly sign up....

I'm late to this party. Missed this thread last month but just saw the ad in Triathlete Mag yesterday and I'm stoked!

I've been looking for an Ironman 70.3 branded event, don't ask why I don't have a good answer, for 2011 and this is perfect!  As long as they keep the registration under $300 I'm registering on Oct 1st.  Website is not active yet.  Why place a full page ad in Triathlete Mag and not have your website ready?  I hope that is not a sign of orginazational woes to come!

I'm thinking this is a good stretch goal for 2011 -- I raced 2 sprint this summer and a couple of half marathons.  I live in Philly so logistically this works great for me.  If anyone is in the area and decides to do this race, let me know if you'd like a training partner

Do you think this event will sell out right away tomorrow, so we should be in a rush if planning to do it?

Also, any ideas on the bike course, super hilly?
