I could be wrong....but the swim appears to be mostly with the current with about a 1/2 mile run into transition.  Interesting set-up.  Maybe the map isn't sized properly??

WTH?  I just mapped it on Map My Run, .41 miles from shoreline to shoreline.

http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/29285904

Even extending it out to the transition area, if you want to count that, got like .7 mi

Could they missing a leg or something?

Yeah, this was my concern.  That is NOT 1.2 miles.  And if we were to swim 2 loops, the run out of the water and then back in would be a half mile!!  In a wetsuit!!!  Hmmmm....  Regardless, the run BACK TO transition is going to be long.

And my guess is this is going to be a NYC Triathlon-like swim (one-way, with the current only) so there will be many swim times well under 30 minutes.

I'm going to start an 'Official Training' thread too, so we can just click on the link in our blog and be brought to a page instead of having to dig to this page.    http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=244155&posts=1#M3387835

Thought I would email them through the website, below is the reply:

Thanks for your inquiry.  As noted, the map is not to scale and will be refined a bit once the weather warms up and we can get back in the river for final course mapping.   This is a general presentation of the swim course and location.

So maybe this means the only things for sure are the entry and exit points?

I did notice the little disclaimer "course subject to change"...

I live near Stroudsburg, so I have to wonder if "technical" means dodging massive wheel eating potholes and broken beer bottles?

I really wanna see the bike map.

Thanks!  If racing is as fun as training, I'm sure it'll become an obsession...if it hasn't already!
