Subject: RE: Completing HIM or IM in alloted time? TheEdge - 2010-08-07 9:57 AM I was reading some posts earlier and people were talking about finishing in the "alloted time". What is that exactly and do they cut you off if you are not in by a certain time and give you a DNF? As per the answers above. It varies from race to race. Most races--bike swim car run kayak whatever, of any distance, have time limits. Depending on the race, they may pull you off the course, OR you can continue but they will take your bib and chip (basically making you an ordinary rider or pedestrian ). Each iron distance race and half-iron sets its own limits as well: not every iron race has a 17-hour time limit (although I don't know of any that allow MORE time, just less ), and some races have informal leeway ... they may post an 8-hour time limit, for example, but actually let people finish up to 9 hours or so. Best to make sure whatever the race, you can make it WELL within the time limits, including spare time for flats, rest, taking care of minor injuries, etc. |
