Pre-race routine:

Up at 4am. Coffee and take Squid for walk. Made 1/2 peanut butter sandwich to eat on way to race

Lake swim. Was actually harder than I thought it would be. Temp was nice. Didn't practice at all week prior because I was coming off last race. Need to get back to practice with coach.

Better time than I thought. I had trouble with the socks and felt gross after the lake swim. It was a long way through concrete parking lot to mount area. Not comfortable running on that surface in bike shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Practice transition time and running with bike.

Lots of down hill some up hill. I thought I did better. Need to practice speed. I think I have the power and endurance, but I get nervous going at higher speeds. Saw a girl wipe out and freak me out a bit. Love the bike!!!

Practice more high speed out door.

Better than last week, but still tough. I give up too easily. Need to push through and get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable. Interesting course. It was though woods and road. Very cross country.

Very good event. Small and nice area. Not crazy about the lake. The bottom was gross. Don't think I"ll be doing this again.
