That looks interesting. Do you know what the 65 mile course is like?

No but from the times I've driven around there it cannot be THAT hilly. I'd imagine mild rollers.

According to the page it might be a bit more than that but that area is not exactly foothill territory. I'm still guessing it's mostly rollers:

http://www.restonbikeclub.org/restoncentury/Cent10/Century2010/docu...
The 28th Annual Reston Century will take place on Sunday, August 22, 2010, rain or shine, starting and finishing at the Reston Town Center Pavilion.

Riders can select from routes of approximately 34, 65, and 103 miles. The challenging Century, and Metric routes follow beautiful rolling rural roads through scenic historical towns such as Hamilton, Purcellville, Round Hill, Waterford, and Taylorstown. The Half-Metric is relatively flat. The rides are fully supported with rest stops and food, bike mechanics, and SAG vehicles.

I've only been to a couple but have looked at a bunch and usually there's a blurb something akin to, "aerobars are welcome but you cannot be in them as part of a paceline, you must be off to the side or on your own to be down in them." Same as most of the group rides I've heard about.

Well, I'm usually off to my own in the BOP, so that won't be a problem! Thanks.

I did 100 miles last year.  There were some fairly significant hills on that course (Taylorstown Rd, Stumptown Rd., and some on the Middleburg loop as well).  Last year the metric course wasn't as hilly as the 100 mile, but it did have a few, short hills that wouldn't qualify as rollers (Woodburn Rd. being one of them).

My understanding is that they vary the route somewhat each year and don't announce it until the mailings go out the week before the ride.

Its an extremely well-run event - I highly recommend it.  I'll be riding this year, too.

the metric doesn't do Stumptown. The only tough hill on the metric is Woodburn. And I've always done these rides with my tri bike.

The rest stops are great!

x2 on the rest stops.  The PB&J sandwiches are AWESOME!  Its also a great opportunity to get your bike looked at by a mechanic for free...

They've put out the official route and have a "hilly 100" and a "no so hilly 100". I think I'm taking the Clydes attitude towards hills and gonna do the not so hilly.

I'm probably going to be there around 6:30, if not 6:00. I wouldn't mind saying howdy to everyone else out there

According to Google Maps there's a Panera Bread across the street from the Pavilion/skating rink. How about there?

6:30 is the earliest I could get to Panera. Too late for others? What are our chances of a meet-up with 1,000 registered riders?
