Shorts for Ironman

tri shorts are highly personal so one person's advice is just that.  i wore the zoot ultras.  in 5+ years of racing they are still my favorites. 

Try Desoto tri shorts, forza fit really nice but again it all depends on personal preference.

I've used Zoot Ultra for HIMs but 13 miles is as far as I can run in them. The seam starts digging into my side and draws blood near 14 miles.

I've used Orca 226 shorts this year and had very much good luck with them and not a single gripe even to 15 miles running. I've ridden over 90 miles in them as well so these are the ones I'm using this year for my IM.

I've never heard a complaint about DeSoto 400 mile shorts. Most of the people I've heard using them also change out for the run so I don't know if they're good for a marathon as well or if you have to change between the two.

FWIW, I've used the De Soto 400 Miles shorts for 2 standalone marathons, 2 century rides, and plan to wear them start-to-finish at my upcoming first IM.  No issues - very comfy shorts for both bike & run.

I heart De Soto shorts, but shorts are ultimately a personal preference - I suggest you try on as many brands as you can if possible.

I'm planning on wearing Aevero shorts for my first IM (in 19 days).  I've done all my long rides in them and have had zero issues with them.  I've worn Zoot, PI, DeSoto, Sugoi but like the Aevero shorts best.

As Chris said, your best bet is to try on as many as possible and see what works for you as it is a matter of personal preference.
