Comments:

stopped to help cyclist on loop 2 that wrecked with another cyclist. Had to ride back up st vrain rd about 1/2 mile to get paramedics, which cost me 15-20 minutes of time for the stop, then threw a chain on same hill after getting help.

Comments:

the run course was really hard, no shade and Effin' hot, above 90 and just couldn't stay cool enough to maintain good rhythm. I ran the second loop faster than the first, but still walked too much
What would you do differently?:

train more in the heat and be a little more fit on the bike, just not enough time or distance runs put in before the event
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

The stop on the bike killed any chance of a decent time, but I felt it necessary to stop to help a fellow racer who was pretty badly injured. I definitely need to be more fit on the bike and train more in the heat to hack the longer distances in the summer

Great race Lance, especially considering the detour you took on the bike course.  Was it really 94 out there? Thank god they had the ice and sponges out there! Congratulations!!

You definitely earned some good karma! And that's a fantastic time on the bike considering how much time you lost!

Thanks for all of the positive comments, I hope everyones' race season is going well.  The next big one for me is the Denver Marathon, but I do have the Crescent Moon at Cherry Creek on 9/19......then on to IMAZ in November.  I am hoping that Karma will pay me back with good weather, good training, and a good race time in Tempe....

I'm sure the Karma will pay you back! Great race!

Wonder if that's they guy I just read about in the other race report that was on the run with the blood and the elbow? I would hope not! However I hate to think of that many accidents on the bike course too.

Thanks for posting the link.....I basically jumped on the brakes trying not to hit the guy or his bike as well and unfortunately didn't get the bib number of the guy who caused it, otherwise I would've reported him myself.  I could tell that he was pretty messed up though and had seen the ambulance at HWY 36 and St. Vrain and went back.  I would hope that someone would do the same for me if it happened.....I wrecked my bike on a 100 mile training ride on the 4th of July, so I feel for the guy and hope he recovers quickly.
