Age Group Rank = 25/40
Swim
  • 08m 33s
  • 600 yards
  • 01m 26s / 100 yards
Comments:

Really shallow going out and coming in. Had to practically wade the last 50ft or so to shore, slowing my time. Ran over a few people on the way out, but tried to watch out.
What would you do differently?:

Go harder!
Transition 1
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

Ran up to the transition. Shoes were open and ready for me. Threw them on. Then helmet and sunglasses. Ran to mount line. Had trouble clipping into my left pedal - about a 5 sec delay.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really. Maybe work on sprinting out of the water. I seemed pretty out of breath after the run up to transition.
Bike
  • 46m 58s
  • 16.2 miles
  • 20.70 mile/hr
Comments:

Pace seemed too fast at some points, but I know that I could have pushed through it. I think it felt too fast because I didn't do any sprint work during the week before the race like normal. 2nd sprint race with a 20+mph bike avg - I'm pleased my speed is steadily increasing.
What would you do differently?:

Pushed harder through the slight downhill portions where I coasted. I tried not to coast below 20mph, but if I was pedaling during that time, I would have had a better overall average.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 27m 6s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

My legs felt like lead for the first mile and a half. Because my legs seemed to loosen up right at the turn around, I'm not sure if it's entirely physical - it may be a mental thing as well. One thing for sure, many more bike/run bricks would help that.
What would you do differently?:

I need to work on my bike-to-run bricks A LOT. I also need to race in ONLY running socks - the socks I used were not bad, but they still tore a quarter-sized spot of skin off my heal. Running socks are worth the investment.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and talked. Sat with my girlfriend in the AC and ate the post-race food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The week-before sprint training I normally do. Not enough bike-to-run bricks.

Event comments:

Very fun race. Definitely coming back to race next year!
