Swim
Comments: Had a pretty good swim considering my swim training has been non existent since my 2008 IM training. I went out pretty hard to get ahead of everyone and stayed up with Aaron till the first turn buoy. Then I just tried to limit my time that I was giving up to Aaron. I got out of the water and my bro told me he was 0:45sec ahead. Not too shabby. Never ran into any traffic. I don't think I got touched once. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Had an ok transition. Put on my running shoes since I wasn't wearing my clips to limit my time in T2. Put on race number, Cambelbak, and race number and I was off. Had a little trying to buckle my helmet. Gained just a few seconds on Aaron in T1. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Today I rode my dad's new full suspension Trek Fuel EX7. I felt really good on it and it was definitely worth the extra weight. There were a couple sections that were taint busters. First time I've ever had a flat. Flatted about 7:30min into the bike. Since I was on my Dad's bike, I've never changed a flat on his rear tire so this was a little challenge. Had some trouble with the skewer and figuring out that I had to take it all the way off to get the wheel off. Also I should have brought 2 CO2s. The one I had only aired it up about halfway. This really slowed me down through the rest of the bike as well. Felt kind of slow riding on a half flat tire. Overall a pretty good tire change. I'm guessing I lost around 5-6min. I Could have easily had a top 10 finish if it wasn't for my flat. My back was really killing me during the bike b/c of the position. I'm not used to racing like that. I feel like that limited me a little bit. What would you do differently?: Maybe should have worn the clips. Maybe not. Transition 2
Comments: This was super easy and fast. Just threw off my helmet and Camelbak and I was off. I had the fastes T2 time today. I expected that I would since I didn't have to change shoes. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I think that the course was maybe cut a little short. I really don't think I ran that fast. My run started off pretty slow for me. Was kind of hard to find my pace. I finally found it at the turnaround. From then on I was feeling good and trying for a top 10. My shoes were super heavy from all the water I was dumping on them. I wore my Saucony's since they were flat on the bottom. The Newton's have the lugs on them. My overall run was ok. I just really wish I had not have had that flat. I could have easily stayed with Aaron on the bike. I'm sure he would have taken it on the run, although I wasn't too far behind. His run time was 20:12. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Banana's, watermelon, and a peach. Jumped back in the lake too. What limited your ability to perform faster: Having a flat tire. Last updated: 2010-06-25 12:00 AM
