Start times are posted on the website, got a 9:00am start.  Not happy about being right in the middle of everything but still should be able to complete before weather gets really hot and at least I don't have to wake up at 4:00am to make the drive.  It will be nice to sleep in until 6:00am.

I will be there.  I am at 7:10 AM.  The guys are hard to schedule because there are so many fast ones.  Sorry you are not happy with your time.  Wave times are seeded according to prior year's performance.  I don't remember if there was a spot to write down an estimated finish time on the entry form.  I will try to get to the pool to cheer you on when you start.  I should be done by then.

Good luck with your start, didn't race last year so maybe that has something to do with it.  Figured maybe it was when you registered but I registered back in June.  Still looking for a good race and did see they had about 260 entries.  Should be a great day and the weather looks awesome.  Hopefully get to catch up with you and hope you burn the course up!

I'm doing it, didn't race last year, first time doing it.  I got a 7:20 start time based on the time i told them my finish time would be.  Looking forward to it.

Question:  does it get crazy with bikes trying to pass?  I'm sure it's going to happen, and I want to be prepared when it's time for me to pass (or be passed, hopefully not!)

OK, I couldn't remember if we had to put down times on the entry blank or not.  Yes, they place us in waves according to how we did the previous year and what our estimated finish time would be.  They also try to do half women and half men in the waves.

Richard, this really is a wonderful race.  It is such a community event.  It is so inspiring to see the first-time athletes out there giving it a shot.  On the Friday night, the kids race.  There are over 100 kids registered!  How awesome is that?  My son is doing it for the second year in a row.  He is 4 :-)  And thanks, I am going to try to go as hard as possible. I tend to race conservatively so perhaps I will try not to do that this time.

Gerald - are you in the local tri club?  Have we met before?  I see you have Ex Phys in your profile.  Are you in the department at the HSC?  I know your name - just trying to figure out from where.

To answer your question, no, the bike leg doesn't get too crazy.  Ten minutes between wave starts is plenty of time to separate everyone out, especially in the earlier waves where most people are pretty fast.  If biking is your strong point, you may catch some of us gals on the bike.  It isn't a USAT-sanctioned race so no officials on the course trying to DQ drafters.  There are a couple of non-passing spots (the longest is near the Seneca Center where all of those road crossings are) but you should be OK.  Richard might find it a bit more congested at 9 AM though.  FYI - the bike turn around is more or less in the same place as where the course left the rail trail to hit the road in the Mountaineer tri.

I am part of the club, although only recently.  I did RockyGap earlier in the summer, and had my picture taken with the club.  I also came to the open water swim meeting in...June? July?  I go by Jerry, so there is always confusion who I am.  I'm friends with Derek Clark.  I will be wearing a 1 piece zoot-suit this weekend, and have a white cannondale six bike, white shoes, so if you see me say hi!

And yes, I am in the Ex. Phys program, I'm a doctoral student in Dr. Mark Olferts lab.

I'm pretty pumped for this race, I did fairly well in a race 3 weeks ago in VT, and although I've been sick with a fever for 7 days, I finally feel ok enough to do something.  So why not race? hahaha

That, and I JUST learned how to flip turn, and my 50m time has dropped by 3-5sec, so I'm ready for the pool swim!

Ah, OK.  Then you know Derek is not racing and that must put you right up there as a favorite going on your Rocky Gap time   Bummer about being sick though.  I hope you feel better on Saturday.  I wasn't at the open water swim meeting or at Rocky Gap this year but you probably see me posting on the yahoo group all the time.  I am also medical school faculty (Physiology and Pharmacology).  I will be wearing club uniform along with quite a few others so not so obvious.  But, we will be standing right next to your wave at the start of the race and I will probably be one of two women in MMS colors in our wave (and probably the slowest swimmer).  Ronna will be the other one in club colors.  Oh, and I have an Australian accent - that is usually the first thing people notice.  I always forget to tell people that.

Thanks Rich - it was great to finally meet you - you had a great race too.  Were you on the hybrid again today?  I think you said your road bike was happening in October right?  You will be much faster on a road bike.  And congrats to Jerry who also went second overall.  I got to meet two BTers today.  That doesn't happen often.  I have only met one other BTer in real life - hi Brian.

Are you buying from Wamsleys?  See this is what threw me when you introduced yourself today.  I wasn't expecting to see you in an MMS t-shirt and now you are talking about Chip?  He he he.  Just trying to put you into the "local" section of my brain LOL.

Yes buying from Wamsleys.  I purchased my current bike in Va Beach before we moved and was looking for a local Trek dealer and came across Chip's store.  I love going in there, they are super nice and friendly people.  Can't imagine buying from anywhere else.  They had a few bikes in they would have worked but wanted to wait for the 2011 Madone plus they needed to special order the 62 for me.

Jerry - sweet, bet you cannot wait to get your new bike.

Rich - yes, Wamsleys are a great mob.  They have been like family to me since I moved to WV.  Debbie did her first tri today.    Awesome.
