Who wants some of this?

I'm planning on racing with my son.  This will be his first tri, and he's really looking forward to it, because this is the pool where he swims for his HS team.

That is awesome! Not only do you get to race w/ your son but he will be participating in his first tri. I do have a word of warning though for your son. A couple of years ago I signed up for this tri to find out what this tri thing was all about. By 1/2 way through the bike, which was a 2 lap loop course back then, I was hooked. I have not been able to stop since. See you both at the race.

Oh, Andrew, you have no idea!  My son is a sports junkie who, in spite of never doing a tri yet, is already planning races for next year!  I already have a monster on my hands.

This really sucks.  My son broke his thumb during a close play at the plate (he's a catcher) early this summer, and was released in August to play football for his school team.  He kept taping it, because it was still a little sore.  Well, it started getting worse again, until it got to the point that the team trainer told him yesterday to go have it checked again by a specialist.  The result is it appears to be re-broke, so no football for a few weeks, and no triathlon this Saturday.  I was only doing the race because he was, and should have been doing a swim and long ride for IMFL training instead, so I think I'm a DNS.

Wow, sorry to hear that Don.  Especially sorry to hear that for your son.  My son broke his arm 2 weeks into summer vacation this year.

Thanks Mike.  Besides not getting to race with him, I feel bad for him, because even though he's only a sophomore, he was getting enough play time in varsity games to earn his letter.  Now, that looks very doubtful.

Very sorry to hear about your son. I know how tough it is to miss those football games. There are really so few games, even in the whole high school career, that it is hard to sit on the sidelines. Hope he recovers fully & can get back out on the field again this year. We'll miss you & your son on Sat. Train well & have a good race at IMFL.
