Total Time = 57m 47s
Overall Rank = 17/370
Age Group = clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 1/23
Pre-race routine:

Infinit clyde mix, water, bananna.
Event warmup:

3 mile bike with pickups, short run, short swim.
Swim
  • 05m 51s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

Should have hammered it a little harder off of the beach. Everyone else did!
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Really short swim this year...maybe 350 yarsds. Not 440.
Transition 1
  • 00m 52s
Comments:

No picnics here...passed almost everyone in transition. Got on bike real fast.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 29m
  • 11 miles
  • 22.76 mile/hr
Comments:

Just hammered. Tried to get as far away from everyone else as possible. Tried to get around the course before it got too crowded. Nothing really to say here as I just redlined it. Took it easy for the last half mile (relatively speaking).
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

Happiness is seeing ONLY 5 other bikes in transition. No picnics here.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 21m 15s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

Just run like I stole something and hope the hell I do not get run down...again. For the third straight race the strategy worked and I actually held on for the win in my division. Epic sprint finish with another competitor who was rocking an old school speedo.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

No warmdown.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weight. I have more speed...just need to drop another 20 or so.

Event comments:

This race is my yearly barometer of fitness. It was really nice to finally crack the top spot in a very competitive clydesdale division (I know...it is like winning a trip to Beirut). I posted a 6 minute PR on the course. Probably would be 4 minutes with a legit swim. The rest of the distances were +2 minute PRs on the course. Took a more relaxed approach to the race and attempted to use a little taper to regain some extra stregnth for the day. Seems to have paid off. Weight loss is HUGE. Went into the race weighing about 10 pounds less than last year (still at 223). Need to drop another 20.

Awesome job! I saw you out there just killing it! Congrats on taking the top spot! You lose to much weight you'll drop out of the Clydes division!
