I just wanted to wish everyone on here good luck at Leadville this coming weekend.  I'll be pacing a friend up there, so if you make yourself known perhaps we'll cross paths while there and I'll say hi.

Again, good luck to everyone.

My childhood friend is running it for the first time.  I'm excited for him.

You can watch this on the computer?

I just heard about this race from reading Born to Run (loved that book!!).  I'm gonna have to check out the video on-line!  Good luck to anyone here racing (and to everyone!!).

trid - 2010-08-19 7:29 PM best of luck zion.  i hear its going to be toasty!

I don't need the luck... it's my friend that will.  I'm just there to smack him around when he starts crying around mile 80.  He's hoping to go under 25 hours so he can get the Silver Buckle, hopefully I can help him achieve that.

I guess technically for Leadville a High of 70F is "toasty".  But I'm sure it'll be cold up on Hope Pass.  Saturday night is supposed to drop down to about 40 in Leadville, which means it'll be even colder on the trails.  I'll be taking my winter running gear just in case.

Just wanted to say my friend rocked it out there this weekend.  Finishing in 22:54... his first 100miler too.  He's decided he's not doing it next year, but said he'll come pace me... so it's on my radar for next year.  We'll see if I can beat his time... but that's one hell of a time to try to beat.

Wow. Nice work! I can't even fathom that. I did some running at altitude in Estes and in Keystone a few times but nothing like that.

You may already know about him, but it was news to me!  Brooks Williams, 27, finished in 11th pace- he has Cystic Fibrosis!  I can't fathom living with that disease or running 100 miles let alone both!

Sub-24???? Man, he did rock it indeed!

Does he live at altitude? That's an amazing result even without the run being at altitude.

Strong work on his part!

not just sub-24, but sub-23.  It definitely is an incredible time, whether it's your first or 5th time at that race.  Like I said... he set the bar pretty high if/when I attempt it.  I completely understand when he said the accomplished everything plus some he set out to do and doesn't think he could do much more (if anything) beyond his performance this weekend.  The weather turned out to be perfect for the race too.  But just being there definitely inspires you.  His performance also shows how taking it easy early on pays huge dividends in the end.  Something a lot of people have trouble with in triathlons when it comes to the bike portion.
