Rain and 60 degrees... not my idea of fun.  I don't have the appropriate gear for that type of weather. It's going to be cold on the bike!

Looks like the rain might hold off at least.  Should be a fun day regardless.

I'm bib #144. I'm 5'1", Asian, and have most of my left arm tattooed. See you there. Good luck everyone!

Hope everyone had a great time!  I was 133, riding a mountain bike due to my road bike being out of commission.  I was a 6'6" sail on the bike course.  Turned out to be a gorgeous day though.

JonD: You beat me by a huge amount. Congrats on your first Tri. My time was a pokey 1:49 and it seemed like everyone passed me. Heck even the ladies had caught up to me in T1. I thought I was a strong swimmer (1m30s/100yds) but holy cow did that ocean swim kick my behind. I barely swam freestyle at all...it was mostly breast stroke because I was breathing so hard. Did anyone else find the lack of lifeguards a bit concerning? I only saw two lifeguards and they were on paddleboards pretty far away.

Thanks.  It was a blast.  I'm pretty sure I was passed by at least 2 waves of athletes behind me just in the water alone.  Once I was on the bike I got moving, but the water took a lot out of me.  I met two lifeguards, kind of hung out with them for a minute while I weighed the decision to keep going or just sink to the bottom.  After I made what to me seemed like a huge effort to get over to their boards, I was kicking myself because I could have used that energy to go forward more.  I definitely would have felt better if they were more strategically located, but I wasn't sure where they were really supposed to be, so I was just happy to get to any of them.

It was my first, so it was a great learning experience, and a good message that I need to get in the water A LOT more.  Congrats on everyone for finishing, hope you had as much fun as I did.

Jon, I didn't even know where those lifeguards were! I guess I was focused on looking for the next buoy. I'm not used to any sort of chop so I had difficulty sighting. I could swear every time my head came up I couldn't see a buoy. I had no idea there were lifeguards around. Glad you made it out of the water. I spent a few miles on the bike wondering if I was really alive!
