Swim
Comments: I felt most confident on this because I had prepared the most for this swim. I had come along way from the first time I tried this route. I was relaxed and comfortable. I floated on my back whenever I needed to catch my breath. What would you do differently?: Still need to work on my breathing. Want to be able to swim the entire distance by freestyle. Transition 1
Comments: Much better than my first transition. I was much more observant on what to do first. Brought a bucket to sit on. What would you do differently?: Dry my feet better. My shoes were drenched when I jumped off my bike. Bike
Comments: I came in off the bike a little too hard. I did not drink enough. Did not realize how much the sun had an effect on me. What would you do differently?: I will take the ride easier. DRINK MORE WATER Transition 2
Comments: This is where I felt the fatigue. I struggled with re-racking my bike. What would you do differently?: Take it easy coming in. Don't try to push it so hard. Conserve my legs. Run
Comments: I thought I was going to dominate here. I fell apart. Running is my strongest sport and I was not concerned. But when I started, I struggled. My back began to cramp and I had to walk half the course. The last mile I felt the results of the drinks I had downed the first part of the race and I was able to run it in. What would you do differently?: Drink more during the bike, practice a brick once a week, take it easier on the bike. Do not run so hard the day before. Bring my water belt on the run. Post race
Warm down: Snow cone, walking What limited your ability to perform faster: Did not hydrate enough. Fell apart on the run. Felt light headed and dizzy. I think the heat may have gotten to me. Event comments: Besides the run, I enjoyed the race. It taught me about the importance of bricks during training. Taught me that open water swimming is not as scary as I anticipated. The secret is learning how to relax in the water. The most important thing I learned was to HYDRATE, even when I don't feel thirsty. Last updated: 2010-07-02 12:00 AM

I ate a shakeology. Used Port-o-potty. Watched the sunrise. I felt pretty relaxed and excited. Thankful for the two practice open water swims. I felt confident. I was in the swim wave 3rd to the end.
Gentle stretching.
