Veteran 192 | Subject: RE: Performance Bike Columbia - Grand Opening They did this last weekend as well as this past weekend. 6 days in total. Potential to net $120. I made 4 out of the 6 days. You could get 4 big boxes of clif bars for $10, or 2 big boxes of shot blocks for $10, or 2 large 60 serving barrels of accellerade for $25. Lets just say friends come over to my house and think I have a problem when they see my pantry. Well worth the few minutes standing in line. |

Master 1584 Fulton, MD | Subject: RE: Performance Bike Columbia - Grand Opening After my recent spate of flats, the tube recycling was an awesome find. We stopped by yesterday and picked up some good accessory gear (tubes, CO2, GU chomps) for good prices. |

Expert 808 Columbia, MD | Subject: RE: Performance Bike Columbia - Grand Opening I got 5 free tubes yesterday by bringing in 3 old flat ones, getting my $15 gift cards, and then the road tubes were on sale for $3 a piece. I'd say worth the half hour standing in line, but just barely. |

New user 72 Ellicott City | Subject: RE: Performance Bike Columbia - Grand Opening Checked it out - nice big store - good gear, and the prices were a whole lot lower than the lbs I normally go to. I hate to be disloyal, 'cause I like and trust the staff at my regular shop. But the same gear at a lower price... |

I went in there to get the bike tuned up and they seemed annoyed that I entered their building. I took my business elsewhere Currently their staff is a little green due to the learning curve of the new place, but the level of service and respect they treat you with, combined with the great prices will put Race Pace out of business. This is my new LBS (local bike store) and I don't really plan on ever going back to Race Pace. So long to the days of douch bag customer service (50% of the time) and stupid pricing.... now, if you disagree with me, I'll respect that, but please check that you are not a girl first, girls are treated nice (99% of the time)... It's just the way the system works. |

It's just the way the system works. It may be true, but unless the women are somewhat knowledgable about bikes, they will continue to get (over)charged to have their headset fluid changed and topped off. That is also the way the system works! The Performance in Rockville is great to pick up cheap stuff, but I found the customer service to resemble what grnfish experienced. That is when I can actually get the attention of someone working there. Edited by nhunter344 2010-09-09 8:52 AM |

Elite 3770 | Subject: RE: Performance Bike Columbia - Grand Opening yeah not so much James. Women are generally treated like we are at car service stations---that we're stupid girls and know nothing about bikes. Of course, I can do nothing about the women that act stupidly, either on purpose to get something, or that just are. |

I went in there to get the bike tuned up and they seemed annoyed that I entered their building. Really? I think I know one guy there I don't really like, but their store manager (matt I believe) has saved me at least an extra $150 in the last year. Hes gotten me free shippin on stuff that shouldnt have been and even very liberal about the conditions on some coupons. They do tend to get pretty busy so getting help when you need can require a wait sometimes, but I don't blame the workers for that. I think the $20 I paid for the Team Performance card has paid of 10 times that amount too. I took my business elsewhere |

Their prices are way out of whack, though, so hopefully there will be some pressure from Performance on that topic. |

I agree I hope the added competition for the "not so avid" bikers will use performance and allow Race Pace to drop some of their prices since they aren' t the only shop in town. Same thing with Princeton Sports but not many people I know of go there to buy bikes. I mean come on... its a ski and tennis shop. |

Just got a $50 service for free, by using my points. Even if the other places try to treat women like at a car shop, at least they do it with a smile and are nice..... they are still DB's for doing it though, which it sounds like you are agreeing with me on Amy. Anyways, give the shop a try, they dropped over $10,000 on their grand opening in free ish. Edited by James Blackwood 2010-09-09 11:09 AM |

New user 72 Ellicott City | Subject: RE: Performance Bike Columbia - Grand Opening I love the service at Race Pace, and the management there. Those guys are great. If I need advice, or a specialty high end product, I'll definitely go there. And I like the idea of supporting my lbs, and my friends tell me that Performance is the Walmart of bike shops, and that kind of puts a bad taste in my mouth. But when you can buy the exact same product, by the exact same manufacturer, at a substantially lower price, I'd have to be a fool to pay more at Race Pace. I work hard for my money, and if the product is the same, I need to get the best deal I can, and that is definitely at Performance. |

That very fitting, given that they are located right next to the real Walmart. |

I dont consider myself to be hard to please either. I dont expect an @$$ kissing just treat me like you want me to shop there again. |
