Swim
Comments: started with competitive wave first 150 people. 23 out of the water What would you do differently?: I think I'm ready to start up front as trying to pass 50 or 75 people is taxing. You cant get into a rhythm. Sure did get an ass kicking on this swim. Transition 1
Comments: There is a hill out of T1 but this was not a problem. Shoes were on the bike. I made up time in T1 I was in 10th coming out. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: my bike computer had it at 9.41 miles. Passed about 4 or 5 fish and avg over 22mph. Just before the turn around I started counting bikes to see how far back I was. 8th. caught a guy on a road bike with about 2 miles left. his face was painted with some kind of war paint. He was right on me all the way in and passed me as I was taking my feet out of my shoes. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 2
Comments: Foot got caught going into shoe and gave me a little fight but only a couple seconds. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: came out of T2 in 5th place with face paint guy(I forgot his name) catching me in the first 500yds. I said to him o man you can run too?? we laughed and I stayed on him for the first mile or so but he started pulling away on the hills but he was still in my sights. we both passed one guy we exchanged motivation. Face paint guy caught one more guy and I thought I could too But at that point there was about 1 mile left and they were racing for the finish line. The volunteers said come on catch those guys and with all my wit all I could come up with was OK. I looked back and did not see anyone and knew at that point this was how it would end. What would you do differently?: nothing. Post race
Warm down: The look on Gina's face when they announced in 6Th place as I crossed the finish line... priceless. Found face paint guy and congratulated him and the others. What limited your ability to perform faster: Starting up front for the swim would put me in a better position and some hill training would help for the run. Event comments: I went into this race figuring it to be 100% effort workout with 1000 of my closest friends. Last updated: 2010-08-22 12:00 AM
