You must have made your w/o logs private, so it'll be hard to recommend drills without knowing exactly what you are already capable of, but...

  • swim-golf: count your strokes, and add your SPL to your time for 25 or 50 yards.  Then try to beat that score (lower) by either reducing SPL while keeping the same time, or reduce the time while keeping the same SPL.
  • 100s on X:XX - I start with a set of 5x100 on 2:15 - you have exactly X:XX to finish the first 100, any 'leftover' time is your rest interval.  Typically on my first set, I can do 1:45,:148, 1:50,1:50 and 1:55, so my rests will be anywhere from 20-30 seconds.  I'll do two sets of 2:15s, and a final set at 2:20 (with a 500 yard warmup, that's 200 yards fairly quickly).
  • fist drills - WARNING!  THESE ARE TOUGH! - Ball your hand into a fist, and swim 50 yards.  Do 5x50, then 5x50 normal, and 'feel' the difference.  This will help you to use your arms more efficiently.

There are LOTS more drills out there.  Let us know what you have been doing, and we can recommend some other ones...

The ocean?  Dude, she's in FARGO!

I suppose she COULD swim in the Missouri River...

I swim with a Masters group 4 mornings a week. The coach designated Tuesdays as vertical kick day. After a good warm up we all head to the deep end and tread water with our hands in the air on intervals. We alternate flutter kick and choice kick. Wednesdays we work on stroke technique - a different stroke every week. Mondays and Thursdays are normal work outs but our coach is really good at mixing it up as far as different drills. There are a ton of different drills to keep you from getting bored and also to help get a really great workout. You can do intervals on a set time (ex: 50s on the minute) or with a specific rest (100s with 20 seconds rest), you can mix up different strokes, do kick sets or pull sets...lots of variety is the key! I like doing sets where you do a 50 - 100 -150 - 200 and then back down again. Good Luck and Enjoy!

Go to your control panel, and you'll find a checkbox that says "Training log is private" - uncheck the box.

Now that is a mantra!
What other motivation could a person need?
