Swim
Comments: Lined up wide of the buoys and tried to swim the diagonal to the final buoy 0.5 miles away. The problem with swimming wide is that when it's time to go inside it can be hard. Navigation was good, but my arms started to feel sore on the first lap. I slowed down for the second lap because I don't want to risk injury before Ironman Wiscansin. I was able to see the clock when I started my second lap, and it read 35:xx. I was closer to the buoys for the second lap, so I did slow down a bit. Encountered a couple of bozos who hit me and tried to swim over me, but I just hit them back. I'm currently fine-tuning my open-water combat skills for the ironman. My opinion is that the course was long, because I was nearly 10 minutes slower than what I expected. There were no significant waves or a current today to account for it. What would you do differently?: Swim along the buoy line more. Post race
Warm down: Floated around in the water a bit. What limited your ability to perform faster: Endurance. My longest swim to date was a half iron swim. Last updated: 2010-08-23 12:00 AM
