Total Time = 6h 50m 58s
Overall Rank = 1886/3000
Age Group = 34-39
Age Group Rank = 106/250
Pre-race routine:

I was in the 18th wave so I had to wait around for an hour and 20 minutes to start. I hung around and talked to people. Ate a bagel, had an Ensure, then a bar. I should have had a gel before the swim started.
Event warmup:

Swam a bit.
Swim
  • 46m 55s
  • 2112 yards
  • 02m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

It was really calm in the morning, but by the time our wave went it started getting choppy. Everyone had to deal with the same thing, so I am not using it as an excuse as to why I swim so slow. I found feet to follow a few times which was great.
What would you do differently?:

I need to get stronger on the swim. Siting more would be good too.
Transition 1
  • 02m 23s
Comments:

I had a long run to the bike mount area, but I am happy with this T time.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 3h 30m 20s
  • 56 miles
  • 15.97 mile/hr
Comments:

I was hoping for a better time here, but I am happy with how I performed overall. Got up to 40 mph on the downhill.
Transition 2
  • 02m 41s
Comments:

T2 went well.
Run
  • 2h 28m 39s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 11m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt good on the run, but wasn't able to turn it on and go any faster. The turn around here is kind of brutal, you get to see the finish line as you turn and head out for the second loop.
Post race
Event comments:

I think this is a great race. I think people starting in later waves miss out on the post race stuff (unless they finish in under 6hrs) because everything is basically picked up. That would be a downside I would say. Otherwise, great race, I would do this one again.

Great work Mandy! You're right about the turnaround, it definitely messes with your head when you see some people going down the finishing chute and you have to turn around and do it all again.

Hi Mandy,   I was in your late swim wave.  Yeah, having a gel on the beach was smart.  Trying to finish under 6hrs it tough on this course.  I did it, but on my 4th Timber...stay with it and it'll probably come!

Your race photos and blog are great.  I don't follow blogs often, but I might get on yours

Thanks for doing the Blais roll across the line, and know that you did a GREAT JOB out there.

Cheers, -Sunny
