Beautiful day for a race...75 degrees and a slight breeze. Swim was slow (as usual) 610 yards (20.30 -see my screen name for clarification!) Had a moment when I thought I was going to pass out. I ran to my bike and bent over to put my socks on and couldn't get my balance. Was really dizzy. That's never happened to me before. Anyone? For a moment I was unsure if I could get on the bike. Turned out the bike was the fun part, entirely flat. 13 miles 39:58. (averaged 19.1) Some really fast guys passed me like I was on a stationary bike. I could hear those disc wheels coming every time! Then the run...ugh. Stomach cramps the whole way. Spent yesterday in the ER with my hubby after 2 sleepless nights of some weird virus (him, not me). 6 hours with little food and not much water. Think I was undernourished and underhydrated. Finished the 3.5 mile run in 38 min. and was just happy to finish. That run seemed so freaking long! 1:42:38. Longest race to date and the most torturous after that run. Hate when bad days are on race day! I should add that the volunteers did a fabulous job. Well run-great music, lots of food, and a beautiful park to enjoy. Highly recommend it.

Congrats on a good race.
Funny thing that came to mind about the loud disk wheels. Last weekend I was racing. There was a large group in front of me, I was trying not to get close enough to be accused of drafting. I heard this loud noise behind me and assumed it was a car. I yelled "car back" to the folks in the group, only to have a guy on a carbon, disk wheel bike fly by me. Boy, was that embarrassing.

I did the PI as well yesterday, and the swim was a bit long, so it took a lot of people a bit more time (ie, you weren't alone)! It is different having a 3.5 mile run in a sprint, which is funny to complain about since I do olys and HIM's, but it just seems off!! They used to have a 5k when it was on the lake side, but the bay does make for less canceled swims. The extra .4 on the run always seems to take forever. Perfect race day, and congrats on a good finish!

I was there, too.  I decided to swim without my wetsuit....I thought the course was shorter than it was.  I had a really rough time out there in the water, but did ok timewise, I guess.....  I loved the bike, too...so beautiful there!  And,yes, the run seemed to take FOREVER....that extra bit of distance was hard!  Way to go!!!
