Total Time = 1h 49m 12s
Overall Rank = 40/100
Age Group = M40-44
Age Group Rank = 8/13
Pre-race routine:

Set up transition. Hung out with my wife & son and talked to other participants who I know.
Event warmup:

Short swim and stretching.
Swim
  • 17m 49s
  • 1320 yards
  • 01m 21s / 100 yards
Comments:

I had a good swim. All the men started in the first wave, and all the women started 15 minutes later. After turning the second buoy and heading toward shore, the sun was right in our eyes, making sighting difficult, but I was still able to head straight for the buoy to start the second lap and finish. There was a small group of men who led, and I couldn't quite keep with them. Overall, my split was 15th fastest male out of 70.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

This race was timed manually, so no transition splits were given. T1 time is included in the bike split.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 05m 5s
  • 18.2 miles
  • 16.78 mile/hr
Comments:

This was not a good ride time for me, because I didn't taper at all for this race. My legs were tired from the higher training volume this past week. I put forth a good effort, but just didn't have the legs, especially on the hills. T1 time is included in this bike split.
What would you do differently?:

Rest for this race if this were more than just a fun practice race.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

T2 time was included in run split. I came into transition with a guy who I had traded places with throughout the bike, but exited well ahead of him. He didn't catch me until at least a quarter mile into the run. Even though I don't have the time, it seemed fast, and the transition area was small. I'd estimate :35-:40.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 26m 18s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 08m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

I didn't drink anything on the run. The temperature was cool, and I hydrated perfectly on the bike. I wasn't bloated, and I wasn't thirsty either. This was a decent run for me, especially considering how tired my legs were. It gives me confidence that I can run this well with this amount of fatigue.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around and stretch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fatigue from training.

Event comments:

The swim started about 10 minutes late. The number of volunteers was a little lacking. This is a nice event in a good venue. It's relatively small, and fairly organized, so it would be a good event for a beginner who wants to do their first race with an OWS.

I forgot to put this in my report - Congrats to tasr for 3rd overall and recognition to newbz for his sportsmanship when he stopped to help a woman who crashed even though he was contending for the overall podium.
