Pre-race routine:

Got up, coffee, usual breakfast... car was already packed. Drive to race site.
Event warmup:

Absolutely none... picked up my race paperwork, got marked and set up transition. Spent most of my time trying to figure out the course logistics.
Swim
  • 15m 36s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 54s / 100 yards
Comments:

Bad swim? Either that or course length appears to be way off. Didn't warm up and got in the water a bit late, but time is way off my present pace. Was about 10th out of the water per my wife.
What would you do differently?:

Be ready... I was standing there waiting for some sort of announcement when the gun went off. Was behind several people and didn't even have my goggles on. Gun went off and people hit the water, pulled goggles down and my left eye took on some water that stayed with me the whole swim. No warmup either... ooooffff!
Transition 1
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Got to my bike and it had fallen. Helmet on the ground, glasses on the ground... not good. Shoes on, got my glass and helmet on took off with bike. Noted it felt like it wasn't rolling freely but kept on going.
What would you do differently?:

Found out after the race my front caliper was shoved over and was contacting the wheel. Happened when it dumped over in transition. I would either make sure the bike was racked a little more securely or stop to hand adjust the front caliper. I'm sure the time spent making the fix would have been worthwhile... but in the heat of competition I'm not stopping.
Bike
  • 34m 46s
  • 13.8 miles
  • 23.82 mile/hr
Comments:

Good ride, could have gone harder, but as usual enjoyed riding my bike and passing people.
What would you do differently?:

Partially engaged front caliper didn't help me any, but did well enough I guess. Suppose I could have opened the caliper or adjusted it had I known it was buggered.
Transition 2
  • 01m 5s
Comments:

Still loving my Zoots, not a bad T2, but not perfect.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure, be faster.
Run
  • 20m 15s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run, wished I would have pushed it, would have been a good course to break 20'. Being in front hard to push the pace I found.
What would you do differently?:

Push the pace a bit more.
Post race
Warm down:

Daughter got me a bottle of water, walked around.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Didn't know the course before hand, was figuring out the transition area up to the last minute, no swim warm up... not an ideal beginning, but the end was a good one. I thought doing the race last year would give me a leg up... not. They changed the direction of the swim, added a lap to the bike, moved transition, modified the run course. It was pretty different.
