its most likely the filtration system. A standard 25m pool has a volume of approx. 130,000 gal. - if its a public pool it will have to reciculate its volume at least ~4 times a day. That comes out to a pump flowrate of 360 gallons per minute. If the suction and outflow nozzles are all aligned, you can get a nasty circular current going in a 25m pool.

You could bring a bit of food colouring and drop it into the lane and watch how it travels. This may get you banned for the pool. A rubber duckie should work as well....

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this. I even have checked... the pool has inlets on both ends (well, all four sides, actually), so that's not it.
