How do you calculate running speed in min/mi? I have an HR and it read 7.2 minute/mile as I was running last night. I know I don't run that fast (more like a jog).

I'm sure of the distance I travel. Three different sources come up with the same (driving it, Map24 and my HR state the same).

Last night I ran 2.40miles in 19:50. Can some one help me not only tell me what minute/mile I ran but what the formula is to come up with the number.

Thanks,
Eddie the mathematically challenged

It looks like your monitor was reading in MPH, not miles/minute. Minutes per mile is number of minutes run divided by number of miles run. In your example you ran 19 and 50/60ths of a mile, or 19.83 minutes. Divide 19.83 by 2.4 miles and you get 8.26 minutes per mile. to get to minutes and seconds, multiple 0.26 minutes by 60sec/min and you get 15.6 seconds. Add those seconds back to the 8 minutes and you ran 8:15.6/mile.

Or, you could just use this calculator: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,,s6-51-58-0-1068,00.html

Thanks for that link!! I log my distances in kilometers and it's always such a pain to figure out a minute per mile pace for comparisons.
