Swim
Comments: Course was Short, surprised by my time seeming it had usually taken me about 50 min to swim that distance in training. Happy that I stayed comfortable and relaxed using very little leg. What would you do differently?: Need to spend alot more time swimming this winter Transition 1
Comments: Ok transition - could have gone faster, need to practice putting on gloves on the bike, probably took the longest part in T1. What would you do differently?: Practice to be able to do faster mount, practice putting gloves on while biking Bike
Comments: Was having a pretty good ride, averaging ~20mph for the first 50 miles. Was working a little harder than I should have, but nothing extreme. Unfortunately, my garmin decided it was done with the race and ejected itself somewhere after mile 52 (with the help of the road bumps of course). Didn't notice it missing for a couple of miles (i'm guessing). For some reason I thought it was a good idea to turn around and look for it... In the middle of the race - yea pretty stupid. Lost about 20 minutes searching for it. I'm guessing I biked a total of 60 miles with the extra 4 being at a slower "searching for Garmin pace". My mind never recovered and never got back to racing What would you do differently?: Umm.. obviously not try to find the Garmin. Maybe take on water during the aid stations to dump on my head. Had adequate drinking water onboard though Transition 2
Comments: Waived wife over to tell her I'd lost the Garmin and to let the RD know just in case anybody turned it in. Spent a little too much time trying to get over it and continue on the race, changed socks since time didn't matter too much anymore. What would you do differently?: Obviously, this transition needs to go alot quicker... Probably would have without the distraction of loosing the Garmin Run
Comments: Ran slowly the first few miles, taking walk breaks at the aid stations. Eventually started walking more and more... It was HOT!!! Glad to have ran in the last mile What would you do differently?: Could have gone harder, was probably a little too cautious about overheating. Legs were not dead by the end of it Post race
Warm down: Nothing, walked around. My wife was nice enough to search for the missing Garmin while I was out on the run, but unfortunately the little guy remains missing. Flush Massage the day after What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat, going a little too hard on the bike, distraction of loosing the Garmin. Overall, a good learning experience - can't wait to try it again. Last updated: 2010-08-10 12:00 AM
