Actually about the time chips, what was wrong with them?  This is was my first Tri so I didn't have anything to compare them too.

Too big and bulky - hard to get wetsuits off over them. Also, some experienced cuts and/or chaffing from them.

Run Far usually uses ChampionChip, which is about 1 inch in diameter and only about 1/4" thick.

I was glad I had my own strap that was think enough to keep the jagged plastic off my skin.  No way mine wouldn't have cut me with the plastic band they had.

Ah thanks guys, yes that makes sense.  I tried to put the strap on the night before just to test it out and ended up snapping it two.  I popped back down to the expo and picked up a nice cushiony strap so I guess I got lucky.

I'm guessing the fact that this year the chips were disposable was the reason why they were so much clunkier?

I can only guess that's the case, which makes it that much more inexplicable. Why have 3x the amount of plastic you really need?

dgunthert - 2010-09-07 5:10 PM Great day! Even with the worst timing chip in history. Tenth out of 122 in M40-44 including the second fastest bike split at 23.2 mph! Woohoo.

x4. I have cuts on my leg from the strap. Those things sucked! Mental note: Use my own chip strap next time.

I had a great race. I was a little slower on the bike this year (I'd like to say it was because of the pouring down rain on my second loop) but I took 5 minutes off my swim from last year, and was faster on my run.

I helped a couple of first-timers train for this race, and they we all beat our estimated finish times! They had a great race, and are looking forward to doing another tri soon!

Cool

My race time left a lot to be desired, but it was a fun race.  I need to get over my fear of crashing on the wet roads which kept my average around 17.5.

I was really impressed with how the race was run.  CapTex is such a PITA after the race to get back to the transition area.

Turns out that Dennis was racked right across from me.  It was good to meet another BTer.
