Get It Here

Per Ray, this strap works better than the Garmin one.  You only need the strap, put your Garmin transmitter onto it.  There are a few sizes to choose from.  And yes, it seems to solve the eratic HR problem.  I have not had any problems with my Garmin strap yet though, but will try this strap if I do end up with problems.

I had the problem and it was definitely the soft strap.

On the Garmin forums there is a post from a guy that works for the company that makes the soft strap for Garmin. He says one of the problems is maintenance of the soft strap. It needs to be washed very regularly. salt buildup creates a problem. A garmin support rep confirmed the problem on the phone.

Garmin exchanged the soft strap to the older hard strap and all problems went away.

Got my Polar wearlink strap, used it twice so far and it has worked great, I think this could be the fix

Glad the Polar switcheroo is working well for everyone.

I'm also happy to report that the *NEW* Premium HR strap that's coming with the Edge 800 has completely solved my HR spike/drop issues as well.  I've had it now some 2.5 weeks and not a single drop/spike/unhappy.  Pretty amazing.  Though, there's something to be said about looking almost identical to the Polar one now.

(I Show off pics of the newer version in my Edge 800 review).

Garmin says they'll be offering the newer one at some point later this year, but date and price TBD.

Just so I have this straight....

I ordered the polar strap and received it, yesterday.  I just add the garmin "thingy" to the polar strap.....and I'm golden?

Yup.  Just swap the two little button-on receiver chips.  ANT+ Plastic one snaps onto the Polar soft strap - and use that.

Thanks.  I'll give it a 12mi. test run in the AM.

I appreciate your help.

Well.....At mile 5.62, my HR dropped to 42bpm.  At mi. 6.78, I code-blue'd at 0bpm.

This ain't the fix......lol.

Anybody want a once-worn Polar strap?
