Used to live in Keller and moved to Austin last year. Had to come back to town for this one. Great excuse to visit old friends. Should be a well run event.

I'm in.  I missed it last year and am looking forward to it this year.  I road the hills on Bear Creek on Monday.  I'll do the same on Thursday.  My son swims for LAC at the Keller Nat, so this gives me an excuse to ride on those days.

It's great to have a tri so close!

Is this club in the DFW area - closer to the FW area? All the clubs seem to be closer to Dallas.

Thanks,

Sorry if this seems a silly question but this will be my first tri and just have a question about the swim section.

1. I understand its a snake swim, but will the ropes be set up and have to flip turn under them? or whats the best approach to this?

2. I'm blind as a bat and need my glasses, hows the best way to go about that? have my glasses at T1 or just have my gf stand near the exit with them in her hand? (gotta use my supporters to the fullest ^_^ )

Thanks ya'll
 Robert

Yes, you just turn and go under the ropes.  No flip turn required.  Do open or flip turn whichever is comfortable.  Try it a little bit during your swim workouts this month.

I would put them in transition.  If you are that blind you might not find her (not sure about the "rules" of someone handing you something, but probably not a big deal)  How are you going to swim?  Do you have prescription goggles?  That might be the way to go if you don't want to do contacts.

Hi Robert.

The lane ropes will be set up.  If you are proficient in flip turns that is an option.  Most people just duck under and then kick off the wall to get momentum going again, at least that is how I do it.    It is an 8 lane pool so we will start two lanes in and then finish at the end lane right by the door to run out into transition.

It is a short run, but if you think it will be hard to see getting out of the pool, I do not see anything wrong with having your GF hold your glasses.

Marcy

Thanks for the info, I've been practicing my flip turns but not sure I wanna do them in the race, sometimes I end up going a little off. I'm not like blind blind but I can see when I swim (not sure how negative my eyes are but i've had glasses since 3rd grade) so I'm sure it wont bother me a lot, my gf is the one who is worried :p. I'm just gonna judge how it will be race morning really. I just got a new job at the airport in the IT dept and benefit enrollment is this month so I'm gonna see how good their vision insurance is and see if I can get lasik! my brother has it and he loves it, and he was even more blind(er) than me! I'm getting really excited for race day!

I forecast no rain.  It will be 55 degrees at 6 AM and by the start of the bike, it'll be 65.  A little sun will peek out at around 7:15 so get your sunglasses ready for a bright and brisk morning!

Can't wait!

By the way, anyone bike/run with the longsleeve running shirts?  I've only seen people with the sleeveless tri tops.  Wondering about the potential for frigid arms as I tear out of T1 at 25 mph!

Not.

Thanks in advance...

Cheers!

My brother used arm warmers that we picked up for like 25 dollars. Take a lil more time in t1 but worth it last year.
