Comments:

Good ride. Got out of transition ok and had a fairly uneventful first lap. Was a little nervous going around the fast corner trying to get a feel of the road because of the wet conditions. Found out that visibility is something to worry about when you are flying around a corner at 65 km/hr when the rain in your eyes is causing you to blink every second! First two laps were good as there weren't too many bikes on the course yet. The final two laps were a bit sketchy in a couple spots because so many bikes were on the road. Gained a little boost trying to keep pace with Haz on the final laps. Pulled a Contador move and passed him at the bottom of the hill when he dropped a chain, he passed me again before I made it to the top :-P
Poured it on for the final lap and went smoothly into transition although my left calf was trying hard to seize up.
What would you do differently?:

More hill training and still can't find that next gear, I know it's there, just can't seem to find it.

Post race
Warm down:

None.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fear! Crashed last year so a bit hesitant going into that corner.

Event comments:

Did the bike segment for a relay team (TVOS TV) so no swim or run data. Posted results say our team was 5th but team that placed first had a 60.7 km/hr average speed on the bike and the second place team had an impossible time and came in almost half an hour before the third place team, go figure.

Good ride Riel way to race in that weather.  I would say you came in third not fifth as it sounds like the first two teams cheated.

I think it was probably a case of the guys doing the bike leg thinking it was only two laps not the four required for the Olympic relay race. My teammates saw them come back into transition and wondered how they arrived so far ahead of everyone else, oh well...
