Pre-race routine:

Up at 6am, out the door before 7am. Biked out to Whittlesea (just shy of 40k). Event start at 9am.
Event warmup:

The ride out.
  • 2h 56m 22s
  • 67 kms
  • 22.79 km/hr

This wasn't a race (there was no organised timing). It was just a crapload of cyclists all out to enjoy the beautiful course. It was SPECTACULAR. I've never ridden in a place so beautiful. Hills forever (it's the Kinglake mountain range).
What would you do differently?:

Keep on practicing hills!!
Post race
Warm down:

Hung around the expo site, ate food, drank, portapotty, got myself a pair of knicks for cheap. Rode back home (another 40k... rounded out the day at 150km!)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hills, baby. I'm still new to them (but loving them more each day!)

Event comments:

You can't get better than this - free food, free candy, free drinks, amazing support, great riders to bike with the entire ride and a non-competitive atmosphere. We got to the 10k climb and everyone was ready to face it, positive, and having a good time. I climbed just shy of 4000 ft today. Can't wait for the next cycling event.

Nothing like hills to get better on the bike. And a nice scenery is even better.

Happy to see that you are having such a blast out there, but you better come back eventually
