Pre-race routine:

Breakfast with cerial, fruit, juice, coffee. A bit of stretching.
Event warmup:

5 minutes in water
Swim
  • 27m 23s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

One of my best swims. Totally calm water and felt calm and strong. The only dificulty was one leg had a lot of glare which made it difficult to sight the boey.
Transition 1
  • 01m 24s
Comments:

Very smooth. I wear socks and they rolled on well.
Bike
  • 1h 39m 37s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 14.97 mile/hr
Comments:

I missed a key turn and added 3 miles and 10 minutes to my bike. It was mostly my fault but I recommend really watching for signs and realize this is a popular route for other cyclists so the course monitors may get confused.
What would you do differently?:

I drove the course with a friend before the race but should have ridden on the bike to really cement the key turn I missed.
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

Had a good transition.
Run
  • 46m 11s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 26s  min/mile
Post race
Warm down:

Liquid and shade. Felt like going in the water but didn't.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Taking a wrong turn.

Event comments:

I liked this race because the swim was very plesant and the bike was really fun. It isn't an easy race in terms of biking because rollers and several long climbs. But that is fun. The race could use a bit more post race food and raffel prizes because it felt kind of anti-climactic. There was no awards cerimony.
