Sunny
Total Time = 8h 00m
Overall Rank = 348/688
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 64/90
Pre-race routine:

Sweat, Sweat and more Sweat. It was very humid so I limited myself to what I was doing. I jogged around a little bit to stretch out the legs and stretched my arms.
Swim
  • 10m 41s
  • 800 yards
  • 01m 20s / 100 yards
Comments:

I liked the swim. I was happy with the waves. Every now and then when I took a breath a wave would come over me and I took in some water. I had to stop for a little bit because a guy who was in the wave ahead of me was screaming for help and there were no lifeguards near him. I got the attention of the lifeguard who was busy talking to someone else and then continued on my way.
Transition 1
  • 03m 19s
Comments:

This transition was different because the run from the beach to the transition area followed a small narrow path for part of it and people ahead of me were walking. I wasn't going to knock them out of the way to get through. So for a small part of this I walked when I would have liked to run but I wasn't going to be an ass about it.
Bike
  • 41m 32s
  • 13.2 miles
  • 19.07 mile/hr
Transition 2
  • 02m 51s
Comments:

They had a dismount area so you have to stop dismount and run into transition with the bike. Not too much of a pain, I just wish my rack was closer to the dismount area.
Run
  • 42m 15s
  • 4 miles
  • 10m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

The run. What a screw up on my part. My right knee was ever so slightly sore at the beginning of the run. So I decided to take it easy. During the first mile I walk a little bit to make sure it loosens up or something. It did but by that point I had mentally defeated myself for the run. I didn't push myself until the last mile and I should have pushed myself during the whole thing. I'll know better for next time.
