Total Time = 1h 14m 50s
Overall Rank = 18/159
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 5/18
Pre-race routine:

Filled tires with air. Stole my wife's Jelly Beans and ate them. Texted Tony. Sipped some water. Got body marked.
Event warmup:

Swam about 150 yards and practiced going under lanes. Then I did a complimentary cannonball for the crowd. Oh yeah, I splashed all of the swimmers from #30-#50, including my wife and two team mates.

Swim
  • 04m 34s
  • 300 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Guy passed me after 150. I hung onto his toes to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Seed myself less aggressively. I don't like swimming that hard.
Transition 1
  • 02m 7s
Comments:

Did not clip shoes in ahead of time for this race after struggling to get into my shoes on the fly in the last two races.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe go back to flying mount with clipped in shoes. I didn't like the feeling of standing there putting my bike shoes on.
Bike
  • 52m 28s
  • 17.5 miles
  • 20.01 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Take better care of nutrition for the two days leading up to the race. ;) Wine fest with Team was fun on Friday, but did not help.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Hopped around a little bit while putting shoes on.
Run
  • 15m 40s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

I went so hard, I was slobbering on myself for most of the run(hot, I know ;) ) Finally did a run so hard that I had no kick left at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate two bagels. Walked out on course to find Laura.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Injuries leading up to race for previous 3 weeks limited training. Bad diet for two days before race.

Dude - nice job - especially on the swim!  That time included some running to the stairs time or some such right?  Great job...

For the purposes of this report, I started T1 at the top of the stairs.  Thanks though.  Official race results show me at 5:01 for the swim, to the bottom of the stairs.

This race was not on my agenda until 36 hours before the start.  I had a wine fest on Friday night and movies with popcorn on Saturday night.  Not my normal 48 hours leading up to a race.
