Anyone know if we'll be running through the sand?

If the course is the same as last year, and I think it is, no sand running (thankfully). Yesterday when I ran along the strand (part of the course) there is a bit of blown sand on the pavement. I deliberately ran through it and my foot did slip a bit, but that was just on the side of the strand boardwalk that runs right along the ocean and sidewalk. Hope that helps some.

It depends if the tide is low late Saturday morning. If anyone hears an "official" announcement, let us know.

Prepping and packing up tonight.  I'll do a quick swim in the morning and then take the bike out to run through the gears and make sure the tires dont pop.  I should be on my way to Oceanside by noon.

Last swim this morning.  1/2 mile nice and easy.  Finally feelin' good.  Water was a little chilly at first - maybe 59-60°?  Let's hope the winds are with us this weekend!  I'll be in the Odwalla kit.  Good luck everybody!

Had a great race. slow, but pr'd the course by a couple minutes. swim was good, i thought the bike was a TOUGH leg with the headwind, and i managed the inevitable run blowup better than last time.

Great job to all you guys today!

I made my goal of a sub-6 hr HIM but conditions were tough. My swim was a disaster. The chop was bad and I had to stop a bunch of times, which is probably the worst thing to do. I even had to hang on to a lifeguard three times just to get a breather. The bike was fun even though headwinds going uphill sucked big time. Dropped my chain on the little hill at mile 53. Started the run strong but bonked on the second lap of the run.

Great job you all. I suffered a lot on the run. Besides cramping again this year, got my socks wet and had some minor blistering.Seems like the sun was was in full force during the run too.Didn't make my sub 5 goal, (5:11), so I guess I still have some unfinished business on this course.

Congratulations to all!! It was a great day after all - pain and soreness included. I am glad to see that the headwind was not a figment of my imagination (and weak legs). Already looking forward to next year.

Congratulations to everyone!! This was my first HIM and won't be my last. Very tough course, but loved it! Winds were pretty tough on the bike and the swells towards the open water definately made that part of the swim hard for me. All in all though, it was great.

A BIG thanks to all the volunteers and support staff. They were just incredible.

Awesome Race!  My first HIM and looking forward to more.

Had a question...is there anyway to view results so that you can see past 100 athletes in any given category?

Thanks!

It's official, my next 70.3 will be the at Lake Las Vegas!  6th in my age group and 102 overall.  Good enough to grab a rolldown slot!  I'll get a race report written as soon as I get motivated to do anything but sit around.

Great swim Chris!  We'll have to meet at the water sometime so you can get me swimming like that.

Congrats to everyone just for making it through the second half of that bike course! I dropped my change somewhere between mile 53 - 55 too.  Luckily it's a lot easier to fix than a flat.  My hand got all greasy though and I had to remind myself through out the run not to wipe my face with that hand or else end up with war paint.

I think that is only possible when the Official Results are out. With the Athlete tracker the first 100 is all you get - but I'm not sure.

Select the division you want and sort by finish rank.  Leave everything else on the default.  You can change Ascending to Descending if you want to start the list with the last finisher.
